Spindletop Youth Soccer Association will be hosting a STYSA Grassroots Level 1 coaching course at the Gulf Coast Youth Soccer Club Complex (Port Arthur) on Saturday, March 4th from 9AM-3PM. The course includes 3 hours of in-person classroom instruction, followed by a lunch break, then 2 hours of on-field training with youth players in different age groups. The cost to attend is just $40, and the class is open to any interested coach (or parent) from our local Spindletop YSA clubs (Beaumont, Gulf Coast, Hardin County, Orange County and Seabreeze). NOTE: ALL GCYSC COACHES WILL BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COURSE FEE UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL COACHING COURSES.

Course Description: This course is designed to help coaches acquire the knowledge and practical coaching skills that are necessary for the novice youth soccer coach. The course is specifically designed for coaches working with the U6-U10 player. Coaches who complete this certification will learn how to promote the long-term athlete development model, maximize player participation and create practices that are fun and engaging for players from a wide range of abilities. Even if coaches are not directly working with younger athletes, candidates in this course will benefit from gaining an appreciation of the abilities and needs of players at this critical age in development. Attending this course will give the beginning coach the knowledge and practical experience that will assist in running team practices, risk management, managing game day duties and team management.

Schedule:

Classroom Session: 9:00am - 11:00am

It is strongly recommended that every coach complete the USSF "F" coaching license course if you have not already done so. The class is done entirely online, takes less than 2 hours to complete, and can be done in shorter increments over a period of days if preferred. This course will be extra important if you will be coaching a and you or younger team this season and are not able to attend the Grassroots coaching course in August. The cost is just $25, and you can begin the class at any time by going to the following URL...

Researchers have found that players who play for a coach who has received training like what is offered through these courses will have a better overall experience and be much, much more likely to play again next season. In addition, coaches who have completed these courses consistently report that they feel more prepared as coaches and enjoy coaching more than they did before taking the courses. NOTE: ALL GCYSC COACHES WILL BE REIMBURSED FOR THE F-LICENSE COURSE FEE UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL COACHING COURSES.
