~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We know there is always some confusion at this time of year regarding what your child needs to play.  All players will need "soccer" cleats and shin guards.  Remember that soccer cleats are different from baseball and football cleats so make sure you get the correct ones as the referees cannot allow your child to play with the wrong cleats.  Also, it is recommended that your child have a soccer ball so they can practice at home.  Below is a list of the correct ball sizes for the different age divisions.
7 and younger use a size 3 ball.
8 to 11 use a size 4 ball.
12 & above use a size 5 ball.
We hope this information helps you get ready for this season.  We are looking forward to this season and hope it will be the best season possible for your player.
Note that all players must wear shin guards.  The proper way to wear shin guards is to wear them under the sock.  The entire shin guard must be covered by the sock as the rough edges can cause injuries to them or other players.
NOTE TO COACHES/PARENTS - All recreational U-7 teams and up must provide one referee representative for the Fall Season. All competitive teams (Division II and S2) must provide three referee representatives, one of which must be an adult (18 and over) for the Fall season. If a coach is coaching more than one team, all of those teams must meet these requirements.  Teams failing to provide their referee representatives will not be allowed to advance to playoffs if otherwise eligible.  This rule is not a punishment, but is to provide referees for our games.  When the season begins, look around and see how many referees we have working the games.  We must maintain a referee pool in order to provide these numbers.  Thanks for your cooperation.
Forms must be turned in to Ms. Broussard by 9/13/08.
Volunteers
Gulf Coast Youth Soccer Club is a non-profit club established to provide a safe and fun place to learn and play soccer.  Our club is a volunteer run organization.  Without volunteers, we would not be able to function.  We need volunteers for coaching, field and facility maintenance, sponsoring, board members, and many more.  For more information about volunteering, please contact Jeff Perry, Board President.
* Each team is responsible for supplying volunteers for the concession stand and empting the trash cans on the fields each Saturday. Contact Cheri Bertrand for the 2007 schedule.
